Recite after Fajr: Ayat al-Kursi (once), the last 2 verses of Al-Baqarah (once), Al-Ikhlas + Al-Falaq + An-Nas (three times each), 'Asbahna wa asbaha al-mulku lillah...' (the morning supplication), 'A'udhu bi kalimati llahi at-tammat min sharri ma khalaq' (three times), and 'Allahumma bika asbahna...' These cover spiritual protection for the day.
