I keep dreaming about my deceased parents. Should I be worried?

Answer
Bismillah. Seeing deceased loved ones in dreams is one of the most emotionally significant dream experiences for Muslims. Scholars generally offer reassurance: Ibn Sirin states that seeing a deceased parent (or loved one) in a good state — smiling, healthy, or well-dressed — is a positive sign indicating they are in a good state in the Akhirah, and may be a du'a answered on their behalf. If the deceased appears to be in distress or difficulty, scholars recommend: 1. Increasing du'a and istighfar (seeking forgiveness) on their behalf 2. Giving sadaqah (charity) in their name 3. Reciting Surah Ya-Sin or Surah Al-Mulk and dedicating the reward to them If the deceased gives you a message in the dream — scholars caution that such messages should not be followed without cross-referencing with the Quran and Sunnah, as Shaytan can appear in the form of loved ones in dreams. The Prophet ﷺ said: "A good dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Shaytan." (Sahih Muslim). Do not be distressed — make du'a for them regularly.
